Inshore trips often appeal to those who aren't sure
their stomachs are up to the briny deep or have young
children anxious about leaving sight of land. In the
Spring and Fall especially, there are some exciting
and tasty species to be caught. As in all our trips,
we run out either Big Pass or New Pass and are soon
searching for our prey. Cobia may be on the inshore
artificial reefs, while Spanish mackerel could be schooled
up under a flock of diving birds. Or prehistoric looking
tripletail could be hanging just under a crab trap buoy
waiting to inhale the shrimp you delicately cast to
him. We might anchor up to fish for grouper or snapper
or drift for pompano or permit. It all depends which
season we're in and on what's running.
